US-127 Reconstruction Project

Visiting MSU

When visiting Michigan State University for commencement ceremonies, please visit the interactive map for current road and pedestrian construction and detours.

Please check MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) for construction on roads or highways you travel to East Lansing. Click on “Mi Drive” in the top navigation to view a map displaying current road conditions and construction.

Directions to Michigan State University in East Lansing

From Traverse City or Points North via I-75

Proceed south on I-75 to US-127 near Grayling. Proceed south on US-127 to East Lansing. Take the Saginaw St/Grand River Ave exit. Follow Grand River Ave east to Michigan State University.

From Detroit or Points East via I-96

Parking

There are several ramps and lots available for parking for commencement. There will be no charge for parking in any lot or ramp during commencement. Tailgating in any parking ramp or lot is strictly prohibited during commencement weekend.

Shuttle Service

This is a complimentary service that takes guests to the Breslin Center. Shuttle buses will run every 10-15 minutes on a continuous loop. Buses are accessible.

  • Ramp 5 (Trowbridge Road/Red Cedar Road at the Communication Arts Building). Stops in front of the ramp.
  • Lot 79 (south side of Spartan Stadium, 325 West Shaw Lane). Stops on Shaw Lane.

Saturday, December 19, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

From Grand Rapids or Points West via I-96

Proceed east on I-96 to eastbound I-69. Proceed east on I-69 to southbound US-127. Take US-127 south to East Lansing. Take the Saginaw St/Grand River Ave exit. Follow Grand River Ave east to Michigan State University.

From Flint or Points East via I-69

Proceed southwest on I-69 to southbound US-127. Take US-127 south to East Lansing. Take the Saginaw St/Grand River Ave exit. Follow Grand River Ave east to Michigan State University.

From Kalamazoo or Points South via I-69

Proceed east on I-94 to northbound I-69. Take I-69 north to Lansing. Take I-96 eastbound to the Mason/Okemos exit.  Follow Okemos Road north to Michigan State University.

From Jackson or Points South via US-127

Proceed north on US-127 to eastbound I-96. Take the Mason/Okemos exit. Follow Okemos Road north to Michigan State University.
