All candidates* must register to participate in commencement ceremonies. Registration will open on January 16, 2026.

*Except Human Medicine (MD) and Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

 

Each ceremony is about about two and a half hours. No admission tickets required. Please refer your guests to the Guests page for more information.

 

Instructions to Professional Degree Candidates

All candidates must register to participate in their ceremony. The deadline to register is Friday, April 17, at 12 p.m. ESTRegistration will open January 16, 2026.

Hooding and Commencement Ceremony Policies

Individuals participating in the hooding of graduates during the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Hooding and Commencement Ceremony (Spring Semester), must possess a terminal (doctoral) degree which can include, D.O., M.D., D.D.S., D.V.M., J.D., D.P.M., O.D., Pharm.D., Ph.D., etc. Hooders may include: parent, spouse/fiancé, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, in-law, alumni, or mentor.  A maximum of two individuals can hood a graduate. If the graduate does not have an individual that matches the criteria listed previously, alternatively a MSUCOM faculty member (with a terminal degree) can be asked or assigned to participate.
