Spring Convocation for graduating seniors, Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. featuring award-winning actor Timothy Busfield. Also, Allegra Smith represented the Class of 2013 graduating seniors. Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony, Friday, May 3, at 3:30 p.m. featured MSU alumnus and award-winning author Richard Ford.
Hometown Hollywood star, best-selling author return for commencement
Timothy Busfield addressed graduating seniors and an honorary doctorate of humanities was conferred on him. Also at that ceremony, international researcher Brian Harvey, professor at Ireland’s Royal College of Surgeons, and an honorary doctorate of science was conferred on him.
“We’re an institution that treasures the arts and culture, so it’s exciting to know they’ll take center stage at this year’s commencement ceremonies,” MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said. “Tim Busfield and Richard Ford have made some memorable contributions to the arts, and I’m sure their passion and dedication will inspire our graduates -- who are stepping out now onto their own life stage.”
Richard Ford addressed advanced degree candidates and an honorary doctorate of fine arts was conferred on him.
