COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERS AND HONORARY DEGREES

Spring Convocation for graduating seniors, Friday, May 6, 1:00 p.m.

MSU College of Human Medicine alumna Mona Hanna-Attisha, assistant professor of pediatrics at the MSU College of Human Medicine and director of the pediatric residency program at Hurley Children’s Hospital in Flint–whose study exposed elevated lead blood levels in Flint children, will be the keynote speaker and receive an honorary doctorate of science.

MSU alumna Kristina Ford, senior research fellow at Columbia, author, former New Orleans city planner, will receive an honorary doctorate of humanities. She received an MSU bachelor's degree in mathematics and business administration.

Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony, Friday, May 6, 3:30 p.m.

MSU chemistry alumna Ellen Williams, is on leave of absence from the University of Maryland, where she is Distinguished University Professor of Physics, and is currently Director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), U.S. Department of Energy, and will be the keynote speaker and receive an honorary doctorate of science.

MSU College of Education alumnus Donald Maine, chancellor emeritus, Davenport University, will receive an honorary doctorate of humanities.
