ALL Michigan State University degree candidates who attend the commencement ceremony are recognized individually for their academic achievement. Many degree candidates and their families and friends participate. Commencement is a joyous occasion. Thank you for joining us.

COMMENCEMENT SCHEDULE

SPEAKERS

Speaking at Advanced Degrees, Friday, December 16, 3:30 p.m., Breslin Center, is Michael Longaker, Deane P. and Louise Mitchell Professor at Stanford University's School of Medicine. Dr. Longaker is an MSU alumnus and member of the 1979 NCAA Men's National Basketball Championship Team. He will be awarded an honorary doctorate of science.

Also at this ceremony, Natalie Crawford, senior fellow and Distinguished Chair in Air and Space Policy, Rand Corp., will receive an honorary doctorate of science.

Speaking at Baccalaureate Degrees, Saturday, December 17, 10:00 a.m., Breslin Center, is John Duffey, president of Six Flags Entertainment Corp. Mr. Duffey is an MSU alumnus and frequent guest speaker at the Eli Broad College of Business. He will be awarded an honorary doctorate of business.

Also at this ceremony, Dennis Archer, former mayor of Detroit, will receive an honorary doctorate of laws.

Speaking at Baccalaureate Degrees, Saturday, December 17, 2:00 p.m., Breslin Center, is Barbara Ross-Lee, Vice President for Health Sciences and Medical Affair. Dr. Ross-Lee is an MSU alumnus. She is the first African American woman to serve as dean of a U.S. medical school. She will be awarded an honorary doctorate of science.

Also at this ceremony, Rajmohan Gandhi, MSU Distinguished Visiting Hannah Professor, will receive an honorary doctorate of humanities.
