ALL bags are subject to search. To avoid delays, it is strongly recommended that bags are NOT brought to any of the commencement ceremonies.
NO food or beverages or other liquids are to be brought into any of the commencement facilities. Please leave these items in your vehicle or discard before entering the facility.
At the Breslin Center and the Wharton Center, concession stands will open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony and in most cases remain open through at least the first hour of the ceremony. Menu is limited to hot and cold beverages and some snack items.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in using trash and recycle containers to assist us in remaining on schedule and preventing delays in ceremonies.
In support of the University commitment to sustainability, the baccalaureate degree cap and gown is manufactured using recycled materials. Once you have participated in your commencement ceremony and have taken photos with family and friends and at your favorite on-campus sites such as "Sparty" and the Beaumont Tower, please consider recycling your academic apparel at the Spartan Spirit Shop, MSU Union Building.
As a candidate for the baccalaureate degree, you are invited to attend the SPRING (UNDERGRADUATE) CONVOCATION and your COLLEGE-LEVEL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY.
Throughout the world, convocations are ceremonies providing University communities the opportunity to celebrate and mark important occasions in their history and in the lives of their students. The CONVOCATION is Friday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m., in the Jack Breslin Student Events Center. Featured are the keynote speaker and the Class of 2016 student speaker. The ceremony is one hour long.
COLLEGE-LEVEL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES are Friday, May 5— Sunday, May 7. Ceremonies are about two hours long. Admission tickets are NOT required.

The SPRING CONVOCATION for graduating seniors includes a keynote speaker and Class of 2017 student speaker. Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon, Ph.D., President of Michigan State University, will address graduates. The following recognition takes place: the Board of Trustees Awards; students earning national and international fellowship or scholarships, students graduating with honor or high honor, students who have studied abroad, a "thank you" to Senior Class Council members and congratulations to all graduates. Graduates are to be in academic apparel to be seated in student seating. You are not seated by college. Graduates are seated in the bleachers and in seats on the Arena floor. Please go directly to your seating.
Seating for your family and other guests are in the general seating areas and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Graduating seniors, make a special memory for you and your family by representing the Class of 2017 as the STUDENT SPEAKER at the SPRING (Undergraduate) CONVOCATION on Friday, May 5, 1:00 p.m., Breslin Center. Deadline to submit speech, Friday, March 24. Submit completed application with your speech.
The COLLEGE-LEVEL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES are at the Jack BRESLIN Student Events Center, UNIVERSITY (MSU) AUDITORIUM, and WHARTON Center for Performing Arts.
Academic apparel is required for participation in the Convocation and your College-level Commencement Ceremony. Individual recognition takes place at your College-level Commencement Ceremony. Your name is read and photos are taken at the college ceremony. If you attend the Convocation and/or College-level Commencement Ceremony, you are expected to remain for the entire ceremony.

Due to construction in the area, the increased volume in vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and demands on parking at Breslin Center for the commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday, we strongly recommend the commencement shuttle service for ceremonies at Breslin Center, Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. There is NO CHARGE for this service.
Breslin shuttle bus service, is Friday, May 5, 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 6, 7:00 a.m.-10:30 p.m. There is NO CHARGE. Shuttle buses are accessible. Shuttle buses run every 10-15 minutes, from:
Ramp 5 (Trowbridge Rd/Red Cedar Rd at the Communication Arts and Sciences Building). Stops in front of the ramp.
Lot 79 (south side of Spartan Stadium). Stops on Shaw Lane.
Lot 89 (Commuter lot) at the northwest corner of Mt. Hope Rd. and Farm Lane. Stops at the Bus Shelters.
